Hello Guest!

About London's Learning...

From October 2009 through March 2010, award-winning training college Point Blank delivered a project funded by the Transformation Fund called London's Learning. Free creative and media workshops and celebrity-led masterclasses were provided for Londoners aged 19 or over:

  • Radio Broadcasting with Choice FM's Lucy Ambache
  • Acting with East Enders' Tracy Ann Oberman
  • DJ Skills with Pacha's Allistair Whitehead
  • Music Production with Sugababes' Jony Rockstar
  • Film-Making with Blood Diamond's David Harewood
  • Radio DJ with Radio One's Tayo

These activities took place in well-known London venues  such as Sadlers Wells, Mass and the Tricycle Theatre. Point Blank's industry professional tutors held three workshops per week throughout each month. These were attended free of charge by interested Londoners who heard about the project on Choice FM. Participation in one of these events secured a place on the guest list to the celebrity masterclasses which played to packed audiences throughout.

A massive thank you goes out to all of you who attended  these events and helped to make Londons Learning such a success.

Bigger Picture

This project is funded by the Transformation Fund which was launched by the Government to offer funding for innovative informal learning projects for adults in England. This idea was put forward in The Learning Revolution, a White Paper presented to Parliament in March 2009.

What's This Site For?

The idea of this website is to enable London's Learning participants to stay in touch with each other and for more Londoners with an interest in informal learning to get involved. You'll find a directory of informal learning activities throughout London as well as a chatroom and forum to find like minded people. For all you music lovers we've included Point Blank's online music mixer if you fancy making tunes for free and downloading them use as your ringtone.

“Everyone can enjoy learning new things, even those who have been put off education in the past. Subjects like Music Production and Film-making draw on creative abilities that may never have had an outlet before, and we expect to find plenty of untapped talent amongst the Londoners who get involved" - Rob Cowan, founder of Point Blank
